MetLife Stadium
East Rutherford, United States
Formerly: New Meadowlands Stadium, New York New Jersey Stadium
MetLife Stadium is a venue in New Jersey. The capacity sits at 82,500 for football, though it shrinks slightly for soccer matches when the pitch dimensions change.
The ground opened in 2010 as a replacement for the old Giants Stadium. The construction cost roughly $1.6 billion, paid for by the teams rather than the state.
What distinguishes the venue is not the architecture but the calendar. The same crowd also gathers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, which will arrive on July 19, 2026, after the club world cup final in 2025.
The attendance record belongs to a religious gathering in August 2012, when 93,000 people filled the stands for the 12th Siyum HaShas celebration.
