Hamrun Spartans beat Marsa-Shlokk 4-1 in the Premier League's sixth round on Friday evening. The result shifted the table and ended the visitors' unbeaten run.
O. Bjelicic opened the scoring at 18 minutes, and the home side kept pressing. By then Marsa-Shlokk had already received a yellow card from Dodo. O. El Hasni added a second goal just before half-time, at 45+2 minutes.
The second half brought a penalty to L. Villela at 63 minutes, and R. Camenzuli scored at 68 minutes. And here's the thing — the visitors began to fall apart after that. M. Trotta completed the scoring at 81 minutes.
We had given a home win as our forecast at 43 per cent confidence. It came through, though not without moments where the visitors could have clawed back. To be fair, Marsa-Shlokk had created enough chances to stay in it.
The statistics tell a fairly even story. Hamrun Spartans had 51 per cent possession, seven shots on target against four from Marsa-Shlokk. Both sides received three yellow cards, and the attack counts were close — 107 to 99.
Hamrun Spartans now sit eighth with eight points from six games. Marsa-Shlokk remain top with twelve points, but this result closes the gap slightly.
