Jackson spent 11 seasons on the Lakers' bench, reaching seven NBA Finals and winning five of them. His regular-season record with the club was 610-292, and 118-63 in the play-offs. He posted nine 50-win seasons and two 60-win seasons.
"The name Phil Jackson is synonymous with championship basketball," said Jeanie Buss. "His masterful approach to coaching allowed him to unlock the potential of several of the greatest athletes in the history of the sport."
Jackson joins a list of Lakers figures already honoured with statues outside the arena: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Pat Riley, Jerry West and Chick Hearn.
