The Clippers are still playing in the shadow of the Lakers, according to NBA analyst Joey Linn, who said the franchise's own conduct betrays a lack of confidence rather than genuine independence.
"This organisation, whether they want to admit it or not, acts as if it's trying to get out of the Lakers' shadow. Just remember what happened right after they signed Kawhi Leonard: the Clippers launched their 'L.A. Our Way' campaign across Los Angeles, essentially trying to show that they are their own team in this city. But it goes deeper than that. Some of what happens inside the club, and the methods the Clippers use to manage the narrative, are not quite typical for a professional sports organisation. And that is exactly why it screams insecurity," Linn said on SiriusXM NBA.
