Anfernee Simons: Bench Role Will Be Easier After Years Vs Starters
New Philadelphia guard Anfernee Simons says years of facing starting line-ups will help him adapt to a reserve role, crediting Rodney Hood and Evan Turner.
Philadelphia newcomer Anfernee Simons says his years of playing against starting line-ups will make the move to a bench role easier.
"I’ve spent years facing starters at a high level. So when I go out on the floor against second units, it will be even easier for me," said the 27-year-old guard.
Simons said two team-mates from his first years at Portland, Rodney Hood and Evan Turner, showed him how to handle the bench job.
"These guys helped me understand what it means to be a real role player. They always made it clear to me: you are a starter, but until you become one, you need to learn to execute your role," Simons said.
