Mateo Gamarra

Mateo Gamarra came through the Independiente FBC academy and made his professional debut there in 2018. In 2021 he moved to Olimpia on loan, where he made six appearances and helped the club win the Copa Paraguay and the Supercopa Paraguay. The transfer that took him permanently from Independiente to Olimpia was contested off the pitch: Olimpia was ordered to pay $360,000 for his rights against a debt claim of $450,000. The following year he added the Clausura title with Olimpia.

In December 2023, Olimpia sold Gamarra to Athletico Paranaense for around $3.5 million. He won the Campeonato Paranaense with the club in 2024. A loan to Cruzeiro followed in February 2025, where he made five appearances before a path opened back to Paraguay. At the start of 2026 he returned to Olimpia on loan with an option to buy, and in March the club made the move permanent, purchasing 80% of his economic rights for $1.5 million and signing him to a four-year contract running to the end of 2029.

At international level, Gamarra earned his first cap for Paraguay on 1 September 2022 against Mexico and has since been capped three times, without yet scoring for the national side.
