Aurore

Pierre Méhaignerie played for Aurore until he was 25.

Basketball arrived at the club in 1930, more than two decades after Aurore itself was formed. The 2018 promotion changed that briefly: winning Nationale 2 sent the Green Squad up to Nationale 1. Since then the ceiling has been the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France.

Regionally, nothing has mattered more than Brittany itself. The Championnat de Bretagne has gone to Vitré across six decades apart — 1961, then 2008, then a cluster of recent titles in 2019, 2022 and 2026. In 2008 that regional standing was formalised when Aurore was named an "Academician of Breton Basketball."

Younger names have passed through since — Vincent Margueritte for a single season, Benoît Claude across two spells either side of 2003 — but it is still Méhaignerie's name that gets attached to the club first, the player who left the Poultière for the Assemblée Nationale.
