Bay Arena Phoenix Women

The Phoenix have no arena to call their own. They play in Oakland wherever a court is free: mostly the Oakland Hills Campus, which was Holy Names University before, and at Fremont High School. The campus does have a 450-seat hall, the Valley Center for the Performing Arts, but that is a theatre, not a basketball venue.

The team was founded in 2023 and entered the Women's Premier Basketball Association (WPBA) that same year. The league, certified by FIBA and started only a year earlier, was co-founded by Danielle Robinson, a WNBA veteran who also plays for the Phoenix. Ameela Li, another name on the roster, was Finals MVP in the league's 2023-24 season.

In 2024 the Phoenix became the first American club to enter the FIBA Women's Basketball League Americas (WBLA). The tournament was played in Medellín, Colombia. The semi-final went to double overtime, and the Phoenix won it. That left them with the final against Indeportes Antioquia, the home side, and they lost 61-53. Runners-up is where the club has finished so far: it has no league title in either the WPBA or the WBLA.

Black and gold are the colours, and Bryan Gardere is the head coach. Home games in Oakland go on in gyms borrowed from a school and a campus.
