Leones Quilpue Women

Las Leonas go into this season still measured against the Liga Nacional Femenina, where Colegio Los Leones has been champion three times, and against the Copa Chile, retaken in 2025 after a nine-year wait since the first title in 2016. The club has also carried the Quilpué name into the Women's Basketball League Americas, putting a team from a city of modest size on the same continental stage as clubs from the region's larger capitals.

The run to that identity started on 21 April 2009, when the school club in Quilpué put together a women's side with no built-in tradition to lean on. Three league titles followed, in 2012, 2014 and 2020, spaced out enough that no single generation of players could claim them all. In 2015 the team went further than the domestic game, reaching the Liga Sudamericana Femenina and beating the Brazilian club Americana along the way, a result that had little precedent for a side from this part of Chile.

Ionna McKenzie-Fields and Daniela Wallen are the names attached to that period, players who gave the roster a scoring weight it had not had before. On court, Las Leonas play at the Gimnasio Colegio Los Leones, a ground that seats 800, in white and red. There is no fixed rival attached to the club, but Sportiva Italiana, Sergio Ceppi and Universidad de Concepción turn up often enough as opponents that the games against them carry their own weight without needing a name.

Two league campaigns, 2012 and 2014, came within two years of each other; the third, in 2020, arrived six years later.
