Belgrade basketball is argued over by Crvena zvezda and Partizan, and their "Večiti derbi" is the fixture the city stops for.

The original FMP Železnik took the ABA League twice, in 2003–04 and 2005–06, and the Radivoj Korać Cup four times. That side dissolved its senior team in 2015 after merging with Crvena zvezda. The present club regards itself as the successor and plays in blue and white at the 1,700-seat Železnik Hall.

It has never won the ABA League or the Serbian national title. It reached the national league final three times, in 2016–17, 2017–18 and 2021–22, and lost each of them. The first of those seasons brought Jonah Bolden , named the ABA League's Top Prospect. Filip Rebrača is the captain, and the club still hands young players such as Petar Ostojić a place in the squad.

None of this began in Belgrade. The club was founded in 1970 in Novi Sad as Radnički. It moved to the capital in 2009 and changed its name three times, to Radnički Basket, then Radnički FMP in 2011, and FMP in 2013.
