Eighteen Swedish championships put IK Sävehof's women's team in a league of its own. The men have taken the national title eight times, most recently in 2024, and added the EHF Challenge Cup in 2014 after the first leg of the final was scrapped when flooding hit Serbia — the tie settled instead in a single match in Partille, where Sävehof beat RK Metaloplastika Šabac 37–26.
The club traces back to four students from Sävedalen, Bo Dahl, Claes Lundgren, Gösta Sundén and Jan Samuelsson, who set it up on 20 August 1950. It has stayed IK Sävehof ever since, without a merger or a name change.
Isabelle Gulldén played for the club between 2006 and 2011 before she later came back to Partille as head coach of the women's side she once played for. Among those who wore the shirt before her, Ida Odén collected eleven Swedish golds with the club.
The Swedish Cup tells a different story on the men's side: discontinued in 1990, it was revived only in 2021, and Sävehof won it back in its first season, beating Lugi HF in the final. The women added their own cup in 2023–24.
Partille sits on Gothenburg's doorstep, while Önnereds HK provides the more local West Swedish rivalry.
