Saturday afternoons in Barrackpore are where the second string of Mohun Bagan Super Giant does its work.

It is not a club in its own right. When Mohun Bagan and ATK merged in 2020, the academy and reserve structures were stood down; the second team as it exists now dates from June 2022, when fresh trials were held and the group rebuilt from scratch. The Transfermarkt profile carries a 10 July 2020 date, the day the brands came together, but that is the merger rather than the team.

Home matches in the Calcutta Premier Division are played at the Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay Stadium in Barrackpore, better known locally as Barrackpore Stadium. The distance from the parent club's arrangements is the point: the first team plays its Indian Super League football at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, 85,000 seats of concrete on the eastern edge of the city. The reserves get a suburban ground and a crowd that fits in one stand.

The league itself is unforgiving for a development side. The Calcutta Premier Division A is contested by the senior sides of East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting, and the second team has won nothing there. That is the arrangement it was put into deliberately — young players measured against first-team professionals every week.

Since 2024 the reserves have been coached by Deggie Cardozo, who had done the same job with the ATK second string before the merger reshaped everything. He is the through-line: the man who was working with these age groups before the structure was dissolved, and who is working with them now that it has been put back together.
