The ground sits in Porta a Lucca, roughly 250 metres from the Leaning Tower. It opened on 26 October 1919, took the names Arena Garibaldi and Stadio Romeo Anconetani over the decades, and is now the Cetilar® Arena.

The club that plays there was founded in Pisa in April 1909. Financial collapse ended the original Pisa Sporting Club in 1994. Its successor, Pisa Calcio, was expelled from Italian football over debts in 2009. What rose again that year did so under a different name, A.C. Pisa 1909, and only in the summer of 2021 did the old title come back — the same summer the billionaire Alexander Knaster bought 75% of the shares.

The fiercest fixture is the Derby della Meloria against Livorno, named for a sea battle fought in 1284. The clubs have met on a pitch since 1916; by 2019 they had played 87 derbies, and Pisa had won 20 of them to Livorno's 32.

Promotion came in 2024/25, second place in Serie B ending a 34-year absence. It lasted one season.
