Podgorica

Podgorica is the Montenegrin capital, and it already had a basketball club with a long and crowded history: Budućnost VOLI, the team everyone in the city measures itself against. KK Podgorica did not set out to compete with it.

The senior team arrived only for the 2019–20 season, and it made the most of the timing. It won the Montenegrin First B League at the first attempt and earned promotion to the top flight. In June 2020 the club was handed a wild card for the ABA League Second Division.

Podgorica reached the final of the 2023–24 Montenegrin Cup, and the opponent was Budućnost VOLI. Budućnost won 94–75. The two clubs share a city, and their meetings are known as the Podgorički derbi.

Home games are played at the Bemax Arena, also called the Morača Sports Centre Hall, and the team plays in light blue and white.

Marko Mugoša and Nikola Žižić are among the players linked with the club.
