Toros del Valle

Toros del Valle enter the Basketball Champions League Americas as reigning champions of Colombia, a distinction the club had never held before June 2026, when it beat Paisas Basketball 3-1 in the final series of the Liga Señal Colombia de Baloncesto. The deciding game, played in Medellín, finished 78-73, and the club calls the trophy its 'Primera Estrella' — the first star.

Getting there took sixteen years and three identities. Founded in Cali in 2010, the club folded after a single season in the Baloncesto Profesional Colombiano and stayed dormant for seven years before returning in 2017 as Fastbreak del Valle. That version reached three straight finals, in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and lost all three. A 2020 rebrand to Team Cali added a fourth final defeat, played inside the COVID-era bubble. The current name arrived on 16 April 2024, and even under it the pattern held one more time: a final lost to Titanes de Barranquilla before the breakthrough two years later.

Those repeated meetings with Paisas Basketball have hardened into what is now called el clásico del baloncesto colombiano, a fixture sharpened by the fact that Paisas were the team finally beaten for the title. The club plays in front of 3,340 spectators at most at the Coliseo Evangelista Mora, wearing red, green, black and white, and answers to the nickname Los Toros.

One of five Toros players pre-selected for Colombia's qualifying squad ahead of the 2027 World Cup — recognition that arrived in the same year the club finally won something of its own.
