Wolmirstedt

Getting to the second division took an unbeaten season: in 2018 the club won the Regionalliga Nord with a perfect record, 24 wins from 24 games, before adding the regional cup that same year. A second Saxony-Anhalt Cup followed in 2020, when the club beat the Aschersleben Tigers 68:48 in the final.

The club traces back to Ohre BC Wolmirstedt, whose players formed the new association in 1999 after the predecessor's run in the second division through the late 1990s. Promotion has come in stages since: the ProB title in 2021, won through the playoffs against WSG Königs Wusterhausen, then a runners-up finish in the ProB in 2025, losing the final to Bayer Giants Leverkusen, which was still enough to send the club up to the ProA.

That step up forced a move. The Halle der Freundschaft in Wolmirstedt no longer met the capacity rules for the higher division, so in the summer of 2025 the team relocated to the Wolfgang-Lakenmacher-Halle in Magdeburg.

Martin Bogdanov captained the side to that promotion as its top scorer in the 2024/25 season. Games against BSW Sixers, from Bitterfeld-Sandersdorf-Wolfen, are known locally as the Ost-Derby, the fixture that matters most regardless of where either club sits in the table.

Two regional cups, a perfect league season, and a promotion earned as runners-up: SBB Baskets have moved up three divisions since 1999 without ever winning the league they were promoted from.
