And here's the thing about the second half — both managers made changes around the 71st minute. Real Santander brought on A. Segura and J. Delgado together. Orsomarso responded with three changes in quick succession at the 79th minute, bringing on J. Munoz, S. Gonzalez and M. Ruiz. Neither side went for the jugular.
Yellow cards continued to accumulate late. J. Ararat was booked in the 87th minute for Real Santander, and J. Perez received his in the 90th minute for Orsomarso. B. Roman then came off in the 90th minute plus two for his side. To be fair, neither team had the legs to push for a winner.
Orsomarso dominated possession at 55 per cent but that meant little without penetration. They registered eight shots off target and one on target, while Real Santander had two off target and one on target. The visitors also had more attacks at 63 compared to 50, but the final ball was missing. Neither side could convert.
We had backed Real Santander for a win at 39 per cent confidence, but the match went another way. The visitors' control of the ball and higher attack count suggested danger that never materialised. The draw brought them together early in the standings rather than separating them.
Real Santander remain 16th with 17 points from 23 games — three wins, eight draws and twelve losses. Orsomarso sit 12th with 25 points from 22 matches, with six wins and seven draws. The result keeps both sides in the lower half, and neither is breathing easy.
