Amine Benchaib

Amine Benchaib scored 15 goals in the 2025 A Lyga season. That put him joint second in the league's scoring list, level with Abdel Kader Njoya and behind Eligijus Jankauskas, who scored 18. It was his first full season at Kauno Žalgiris, and the club won the first A Lyga title in its history. It also won the Lithuanian Super Cup.

He arrived in Kaunas as a free transfer, announced on 11 December 2024, and joined up in January 2025. He came from FK Panevėžys, where he had spent the second half of 2024. He had moved there from Romania, also on a free transfer.

The route to Lithuania ran through several countries. He began his senior career at Lokeren, then moved to Charleroi on a free transfer in May 2020. In January 2022 he went to Kortrijk, another Belgian club, where he stayed for a year.

His Romanian spell began with a loan to Mioveni in January 2023. The deal carried an option to buy for €200,000 if Mioveni avoided relegation and he performed well. Mioveni went down, and the option was not exercised. He returned to Kortrijk, then signed for Farul Constanța in June 2023 and played there until July 2024.

A move from a Romanian club to Lithuania is an unusual step for a Belgian player. In one year at Kauno Žalgiris he scored 15 goals and won two trophies.
