Augustine Boakye

Augustine Boakye's route to Ligue 1 began at West African Football Academy, where he made 51 league appearances and scored 10 goals between 2018 and 2021. He finished as WAFA's top scorer in the 2020/21 season with 20 goal contributions and picked up the NASCO GPL Player of the Month award for June 2020.

In August 2021 he moved to Austria, joining Wolfsberger AC. He started out with the reserve side in the Regionalliga Central, scoring five goals in 16 appearances, before establishing himself in the first team, where he went on to make 41 league appearances and score 12 goals. He was Wolfsberger's second-highest scorer in 2023/24 with 19 goal contributions, including 10 goals, and topped the Austrian Bundesliga's statistical charts among players aged 23 and under for goal and assist involvement.

He joined Saint-Étienne in July 2024, for a reported fee of around €3 million and a four-year contract with the option of a further year. He has since made 48 league appearances for the club, scoring eight goals.

Boakye had not made his senior debut for Ghana before June 2026, when he was named in Carlos Queiroz's 26-man squad for the World Cup with no prior caps — his first call-up to the national side. He has yet to win a major trophy at club level.
