Adam Mackinnon

Adam Mackinnon spent 2025–26 winning the Scottish League One title with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, a club he joined on a free transfer after Ross County released him. He played 26 league matches in the campaign.

The route there began on the Isle of Lewis. Mackinnon grew up in Stornoway and played for the grassroots club Back FC until 2017, when he moved to the Ross County Academy. He signed a Modern Apprenticeship with the Dingwall club in mid-2019 and was handed a senior debut on 14 November 2020, in a Scottish League Cup tie against Stirling Albion.

Regular first-team football at Ross County did not follow. Instead the club sent him out on loan, and he spent much of his time there building his game elsewhere. He went to Brora Rangers three times, first in the winter of 2020–21, again from August 2021 to January 2022, and once more from October 2023 to January 2024. Between those spells came two stints at Montrose, one in the second half of 2022 and one in the first months of 2023. He scored twice for Montrose. His final loan was at Arbroath in the first half of 2024, where he scored once.

After four years on the Ross County books, he left in the summer of 2024. Inverness signed him that August on a two-year contract, which was later extended to 2027.

The league title with Inverness is the first honour in his career.
