Adrian Segecic

Adrian Segečić had his best season at Sydney FC in 2024–25, his last before leaving. He scored 18 goals in all competitions, more than anyone else at the club, and shared the A-League Men top-scorer position on 13. The club gave him three awards for it: A-League Men Player of the Year, Members' Player of the Year and the Golden Boot. He was also named in the PFA A-League Team of the Season.

The route there was gradual. He played junior football at Lidcombe Waratah, spent 2016 at Parramatta FC and joined the Sydney FC Academy in 2017. His first Sydney FC honour came early, the Rising Star Award for 2020–21. Between 2020 and 2023 he played 30 games for the club's National Premier Leagues side and scored 15 goals. He signed his first professional contract in May 2022. Across 2021 to 2025 he made 44 senior appearances for Sydney and scored 14 times.

In June 2025 he moved to Portsmouth on a three-year deal. He was technically a free agent, but Sydney FC received a substantial six-figure fee in training compensation. In May 2026 he was nominated for the EFL Championship PFA Player of the Month. He is left-footed and plays on the right wing or up front.

Segečić was born in Westmead, New South Wales, and played for Australia at U17, U20 and U23 level. In March 2026 he switched his international allegiance to Croatia, with FIFA approval. He has one cap for the Croatia U21 side and none for the senior team, though he was included in the senior squad for the 2026–27 UEFA Nations League.
