About the player
Antonio Verinac's career has moved through six clubs in four years. At ETSV Hamburg in 2024–2025, he scored around 26 goals in 29 matches in the Oberliga Hamburg. That breakout season came after a contract at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig that was terminated within three months, followed by spells at SSV Jeddeloh and the reserve side of 1. FC Köln.
The Oberliga form carried him to VfB Lübeck in the Regionalliga Nord for 2025–2026, where he continued scoring at a heavy rate, 12 goals in 20 appearances. That run persuaded FC St. Gallen to sign him in January 2026 on a four-year contract taking him to 2030, a move into the Swiss Super League. St. Gallen then sent him out on loan in July 2026, without a fee attached, to SC Austria Lustenau in the Austrian Bundesliga for the 2026–2027 season.
Verinac was born in Hamburg and came through the youth ranks at FC St. Pauli and Werder Bremen before starting his senior career. He holds German and Croatian nationality, and the Croatian federation has taken notice: he was called up to the Croatia U21 squad for qualifiers against Hungary, Ukraine and Lithuania in the buildup to the 2027 European Under-21 Championship. He has not yet made a senior international appearance for either country.
