About the player
Andy Cook has won the top-scorer award in two different divisions. He took the National League Golden Boot in 2017–18 with 26 goals for Tranmere Rovers, and the EFL League Two Golden Boot in 2022–23 with 28 for Bradford City.
He began at Carlisle United and had loan spells at Workington and Barrow. Barrow then signed him permanently, and in 2012 Grimsby Town paid an undisclosed compensation fee for him. He returned to Barrow in 2014 and stayed two seasons. In 2013 he won a cap for England C.
Tranmere signed him on a free transfer in 2016. Alongside the Golden Boot, he was named the club's Players' Player of the Year twice. Tranmere won the National League play-offs in 2018.
He left that summer, again on a free, for Walsall. Mansfield Town signed him in 2019 for an undisclosed fee. Bradford City took him on loan in 2021 and made the deal permanent. His best season there was 2022–23. He was League Two Player of the Month for September 2022, took the Golden Boot, and was voted Bradford's Player of the Year.
In 2026 he returned to Grimsby on loan, and the move was made permanent later that year. It is his second spell at the club.
