Kieran Thomas Green

Kieran Green scored the goal Grimsby Town supporters still bring up: a 70-yard lob from inside his own half against Harrogate Town on 12 April 2025. The club described the strike as "one of the greatest-ever Grimsby Town goals".

Green had reached Blundell Park by a long route through the lower divisions. He joined the Hartlepool United academy at under-14 level, made his senior debut in October 2014 and signed his first professional contract the following April. He was released in May 2017. Before that he had spent loan spells at Spennymoor Town, Frickley Athletic and Gateshead, and Gateshead signed him permanently in June 2017 after his release. He made eight league appearances there.

Blyth Spartans took him on loan in November 2017 and made the move permanent in June 2018. York City followed in 2019, with 34 league appearances and four goals. FC Halifax Town signed him on a free transfer in August 2020, and he played 75 league games over two seasons, scoring six.

Grimsby signed him in July 2022 on a two-year contract. His first season there brought an FA Cup run to the quarter-finals, the club's furthest since 1939. In October 2024 he extended his deal until June 2027.

Green is now the longest-serving current player at the club. In January 2026, after Danny Rose left, he was made club captain. His 2025/26 League Two season brought 13 goals and seven assists in more than 3,400 minutes of football.
