About the player
Edinburgh's summer of 2025 gave Andy Irving his first senior Scotland cap, a substitute appearance against Liechtenstein on 9 June.
Irving came up through Heart of Midlothian's academy, breaking into the first team in 2017, but Hearts loaned him out twice — to Berwick Rangers and then Falkirk — before he settled into 61 appearances for the club. His best individual recognition in Scotland came in 2020–21, when he was named in the PFA Scotland Scottish Championship Team of the Year.
He left Hearts on a free transfer in 2021 and joined Türkgücü München in Germany's 3. Liga. He found stability at SK Austria Klagenfurt in Austria, where he became a key player.
West Ham signed Irving from Klagenfurt in September 2023, immediately loaning him back for the season, and he did not join the Hammers' first team until 2024/25, making his Premier League debut that November. In January 2026 he moved permanently to AC Sparta Prague, a club owned by West Ham shareholder Daniel Kretinsky.
