About the player
Azeem Kerr Abdulai's debut for Leyton Orient could hardly have gone better: he scored a hat-trick against Exeter City.
Abdulai came through Celtic's academy after starting out at the Jimmy Johnstone Academy, before a move to Leicester City in 2020. His senior career took longer to get going than his early promise might have suggested — it was only after joining Swansea City as a free agent in July 2021 that he made his first-team debut, doing so in 2022. Over his time at Swansea he made 24 league appearances and scored once.
The move to Leyton Orient in January 2025 changed his trajectory. Beyond the hat-trick on debut, he played a part in the club's run to the 2024–25 EFL League One play-off final, a campaign that ended in a 1–0 defeat to Charlton Athletic.
At international level, Abdulai has represented Scotland at Under-21 level, winning six caps.
In July 2026 he moved on again, signing a three-year contract with Hibernian after his spell at Leyton Orient.
