About the player
Charlie Taylor was named both Leeds United Fans' Player of the Year and the Yorkshire Evening Post's Player of the Year for 2015–16. He started 52 league games in a row for Leeds, a club record, and the run ended only with an Achilles injury in December 2016.
Taylor, a York native, joined the Leeds academy in 2010 and made his senior debut in 2011. That year he also played twice for England at under-19 level. By the time he left in 2017 he had made 93 league appearances for Leeds and scored three goals.
In July 2017 Burnley signed him, with a compensation fee of £5 million agreed between the clubs. He stayed until 2024 and played 194 league games for them.
Southampton signed him on a free transfer in July 2024 on a two-year contract. In September 2025 he went to West Bromwich Albion on loan for the rest of the 2025–26 season. Southampton released him at the end of his contract, and in July 2026 he signed a one-year deal with Derby County, again on a free transfer.
He has not played for the England senior side.
