About the player
Camil Mmaee scored a hat-trick for MVV Maastricht in a 3–2 win over Jong AZ on 22 December 2024, in a season that made him one of the club's leading scorers in the Eerste Divisie. He finished 2024–25 with 11 league goals in 29 appearances, level with Sven Braken as the team's joint top scorer.
The route to Maastricht ran through Belgium and Italy. Mmaee began at KAA Gent, then moved to Standard Liège, where he spent nine years in the academy. He signed his first professional contract there in August 2021 and made his senior debut on 22 March 2022 in a 1–0 win against Beerschot. It was his only first-team appearance for the club.
In July 2022 he joined Bologna on a free transfer. He played for the under-19 side and did not appear for the senior team. In January 2024 he moved on, again on a free transfer, to MVV Maastricht. There he made 56 appearances and scored 15 goals.
A serious foot injury in 2025 ended his season early and kept him out at the start of the next one. He returned to training in August 2025.
On 1 February 2026 he signed for Sarpsborg 08 on a contract running to the end of 2029. Born in Tongeren to a Cameroonian-French father and a Moroccan mother, he has chosen to represent Morocco, for whom he has played once at under-17 level and once at under-20 level. He is also eligible for Belgium and Cameroon.
