Christopher Anthony Willock

Chris Willock had his best spell at Queens Park Rangers. In November 2021 he was named EFL Championship Player of the Month. At the end of that 2021–22 season he took both of the club's main awards, Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year. He joined QPR in October 2020 for a reported £750,000 and went on to make 140 league appearances and score 20 goals.

He came to that point by an unusual route. Willock joined the Arsenal academy at the age of five and stayed until 2016. He made his first-team debut in the League Cup in September 2016. The youth ranks had already brought him honours: he won the Under-21 Premier League play-offs with Arsenal in 2015–16, and a year earlier he was named in the team of the tournament at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He played for England at every youth level from Under-16 to Under-20 but has not won a senior cap.

In June 2017 he moved to Benfica, where he spent most of his time with the B team in Portugal's LigaPro. He made 64 appearances and scored 14 goals there. Two loans followed from Lisbon. At West Bromwich Albion in 2019–20 he did not make a first-team appearance. At Huddersfield Town in early 2020 he scored twice in 14 games.

His QPR contract expired in the summer of 2024, and in July he signed a three-year deal with Cardiff City. He has made 82 appearances for the Welsh club and scored 10 goals.
