About the player
Cruz Allen was 16 when he made his Derby County debut, one of the youngest players to appear for the club in recent years. He came off the bench on 8 November 2023 in a 4–1 EFL Trophy group-stage win over Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s.
The route there began at Burton Albion, where he started out in youth football before moving to Derby's academy at under-10 level. He signed his first professional contract in March 2024. His 2024–25 season in the Under-21s brought more than ten goals. His league debut for the senior side followed in February 2026, and in June he agreed a new two-year contract. The club's Academy Manager, Jamie Smith, and manager Stephen Pearce were involved in those talks.
On 28 August he joined FC Halifax Town on a one-month loan. He made his debut the same day, coming on in the 70th minute of a 2–1 defeat by Altrincham.
Allen was born in England but plays for Wales, through his Welsh father. He scored a free-kick in the 94th minute against Japan Under-19s to secure a 3–2 win in a preparatory friendly tournament in Denbigh. As of July 2026 he had 18 caps and one goal for Wales at that level.
Before that he had gone through the younger age groups: 13 appearances and two goals for the Under-17s, including the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, seven caps and a goal for the Under-16s, and three for the Under-15s.
