Dmitri Barinov

Dmitri Barinov's football education began far from Moscow's big clubs, at a local sports school in Ogudnevo, before stops at academies in Fryazino and Shchyolkovo, and eventually a boarding school in Yegoryevsk that fed into Saturn Ramenskoye's youth setup. In 2012 he joined Lokomotiv Moscow's academy, and three years later he was making his professional debut for the first team, the start of a spell that would define most of his career.

At Lokomotiv, Barinov grew from a promising midfielder into the club captain. He won the Russian Premier League title in 2017/18, lifted the Russian Cup three times, and added a Super Cup in 2019. His European highlight came in September 2019, when he scored against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. He passed 200 appearances for Lokomotiv in November 2023.

The move to CSKA Moscow in January 2026 was not straightforward. Lokomotiv had resisted selling him and he had turned down a new contract there, so the eventual €2 million transfer carried an edge of controversy given his history with the club. He made his CSKA debut in March 2026 against Akhmat Grozny, though his time at the new club was disrupted months later when a match against his former side left him with knee ligament damage requiring surgery.

On the international stage, Barinov made his senior Russia debut in 2019 and has featured in World Cup qualifying since, adding to underage success that included winning the European Under-17 Championship in 2013.
