About the player
Daniel Šmiga scored nine goals in ten appearances for the Czech Republic Under-15s in 2018 and 2019. He got one goal in six games for the Under-16s and one in three for the Under-17s. For the Under-18s he scored three in 11, and for the Under-19s three in five.
His route into professional football began in Moravia-Silesia. He played for Finstal Lučina, then for MFK Frýdek-Místek from 2012 to 2017, before joining the Baník Ostrava academy. He was handed a debut for the Baník first team in May 2021.
On 23 February 2022 he moved to Slavia Prague, for a fee reported as in the lower millions of Czech koruna. At Slavia he was also registered with the B team. He spent 2023–24 at Vlašim, 2024–25 at ViOn Zlaté Moravce in Slovakia and 2025–26 at Příbram.
The move to FC Zlín was announced on 27 May 2026. It made him the first signing Zlín announced from Slavia, and he put pen to paper on a contract running to 30 June 2029.
Šmiga is right-footed and leads the line at 186 cm and 83 kg.
