In January 2020, still on the books at Cruzeiro after his loan there had been made permanent, he sued the club over unpaid wages before moving on to Corinthians the following month on a five-year deal. The spell at Corinthians was interrupted by a loan to Fortaleza in 2021, where he made 40 appearances and helped the side win the Campeonato Cearense.

Corinthians sold him to Salernitana in January 2022, and after 15 matches in Italy, Atalanta signed him that July for a fee structured around a cash payment plus the player Matteo Lovato. The transfer triggered solidarity mechanism payments back to his former clubs Corinthians, Cruzeiro and Fortaleza. He was named in Brazil's squad for the 2024 Copa América but had to withdraw after fracturing an eye socket in a Manchester City match against Tottenham Hotspur in May 2024, with Rafael called up in his place. He has since featured in qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Before his move to Europe, Éderson won the Campeonato Mineiro with Cruzeiro in 2019.
