About the player
Fredrik Pålerud is a qualified lawyer as well as a right-back, a combination that is rare in Norwegian football. He grew up in Finnholt in Sør-Odal and came through Disenå IL and Oppstad IL before joining Sander IL, where he stayed until 2012.
He then moved north to Tromsø 2 and studied at NTG Tromsø, the school linked to Tromsø IL's academy. He played 27 matches for the reserve side and scored once, but he was not offered a contract with the first team.
Pålerud spent eight years at Kongsvinger, from 2013 to 2021, and made more than 170 appearances in all competitions. He reached 100 matches for the club in 2017. Most of that time came in the OBOS-ligaen, the second tier, where he was a regular in defence. Kongsvinger took part in the promotion play-offs in 2016 and 2019.
He left on a free transfer in February 2021 for Sandnes Ulf. There he played 29 matches, scored once and was in the squad for the 2022 promotion play-offs. In August 2022 he joined Sandefjord Fotball and played 27 matches in the Eliteserien and the OBOS-ligaen before leaving in April 2024.
That same month he signed for Start, again on a free transfer. He has made more than 50 appearances for the club. In December 2024 he extended his contract through the 2026 season.
