Georgi Georgiev Kitanov

Georgi Kitanov came through Cherno More Varna's academy and made his senior debut for the club in 2012, going on to win the Bulgarian Cup and Super Cup with them in the 2014–15 season. That campaign was interrupted by a broken foot suffered against Beroe in October 2014; he had surgery and did not return to the pitch until May 2015.

A move to CSKA Sofia followed in 2016, but the arrival of Vytautas Černiauskas cost him his place as first-choice goalkeeper, and he went back to Cherno More Varna on loan for the 2018–19 season. He left Bulgaria in 2019 for Astra Giurgiu in Romania, then joined Petrolul Ploiești a year later, both moves on free transfers.

His spell at Floriana in Malta was notable: he was in goal when the club won the Maltese FA Trophy in 2021–22, beating Valletta 2–1 in the final. He left for Fratria in 2024, but a fresh injury that November led to his departure from the club by mutual consent in December. Spartak Pleven took him on in 2025 before he moved on to Dunav Ruse later the same year, where he has made nine appearances in the First Professional League.

Kitanov's representative career has been built entirely at youth level for Bulgaria, with caps across the under-17, under-19 and under-21 sides. A call-up to the senior squad came in November 2016 for a match against Belarus, though he has not yet made his debut for the first team.
