Harry Pickering

Harry Pickering spent the first five years of his professional career at Crewe Alexandra, and by the end of it he was the club's captain. He came through the academy, signed professional terms in March 2016 and made his senior debut the following April. He led the side during the 2020–21 season.

The promotion to EFL League One in 2019–20, when Crewe finished second, came in the middle of that spell. Across his time there he made 127 league appearances and scored nine goals.

In January 2021 Blackburn Rovers agreed a £650,000 fee for him, with a sell-on clause for Crewe. Pickering went back to Crewe on loan for the rest of that season, and joined Blackburn properly in the summer on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

His Blackburn debut came on 7 August 2021, in a 2–1 win over Swansea City. His first goal followed on 11 September, in a 2–2 draw with Luton Town. In November that year he headed in against Peterborough United in a 4–0 win. Later goals include one in a 2–1 EFL Cup win over Blackpool in August 2024 and one in a 3–2 defeat by Hull City in the 2023–24 season.

Hull were also the opponents when he was sent off for the first time in his career, on 19 August 2023.

In December 2023 he signed a new contract that runs to June 2027, with an option of a further 12 months.
