Hugo Vargas-Ríos

Hugo Vargas-Ríos made his senior debut at Tours FC in 2013, having come through the club's youth ranks. From there his career took a route through the lower divisions of French football, with spells at C'Chartres, Saint-Pryvé Saint-Hilaire and GOAL FC before he settled at Stade Briochin in 2020.

His time at Le Mans, which began in July 2021, produced the highlight of his career to date: a National title in the 2023–24 season that sent the club up to Ligue 2. That success came on the back of years spent building a career step by step through the third and fourth tiers rather than arriving via a direct path to the professional game.

Vargas-Ríos left Le Mans as a free agent in July 2024 and signed for Dijon, where he wears the number 20 shirt, the same number he had at Stade Briochin. He was part of the Dijon squad that also won the National title in the 2023–24 season, even if his personal role in that particular title run has drawn less attention than his contribution at Le Mans.

A right-footed midfielder, he has built his career entirely in France's domestic pyramid, moving between clubs on free transfers throughout. He has not been called up by the French national team at any level.
