Ivan Komarov

Komarov made his senior debut for FC Rostov on 19 June 2020, against PFC Sochi, coming on as a substitute at a moment when the club had to field its under-18 side because of a COVID-19 quarantine. The rest of his career has unfolded entirely within the same club, having worked his way up through Rostov's academy after joining it in 2018/2019 from Lokomotiv Moscow's youth ranks, where he had won the U14 Summer Championship and a silver medal in the Russian Football Union Cup.

An attacking midfielder and winger who plays off his left foot, Komarov has grown into a regular fixture for Rostov, with his appearance count climbing steadily season by season. His clearest attacking highlight came in November 2024, when he scored twice against FC Khimki. Across his time in the first team he has also contributed goals in the Russian Cup.

In March 2025 came his first call-up to the Russia national team, for friendlies against Grenada and Zambia. He made his debut on 25 March 2025, starting against Zambia in a 5–0 win and coming off in the 59th minute.

Komarov has yet to win a major trophy with Rostov, but the club has shown its commitment to him: his contract runs until 30 June 2029. Having never played senior football away from Rostov, his progress so far has been a case of an academy product who forced his way into the shirt with the number 10 on his back.
