Without the injured Neymar, Santos surrendered a 2-0 aggregate lead, lost 4-2 in Belo Horizonte and fell 3-1 on penalties in the Copa Sudamericana quarter-final.

About the player
Igor Gomes came through São Paulo's academy in Cotia and made his senior debut for the club in November 2018 in a goalless draw with Sport Recife. He went on to make roughly 208 appearances for São Paulo, scoring 12 goals, and won the Campeonato Paulista with the club in 2021 before leaving for Atlético-MG in early 2023. The deal included a clause giving São Paulo 10% of any future sale of the player.
At youth level, Gomes was part of Brazil's squad for the 2019 South American U-20 Championship and later earned four caps for the Brazil U-23 side during preparations for the Pre-Olympic Tournament. In August 2019 he was called up to train with the senior national team, though a full debut never followed.
Since moving to Atlético-MG, Gomes has become a regular in a side that has enjoyed sustained success on the domestic stage, winning the Campeonato Mineiro in 2023, 2024 and 2025. His contract runs until December 2026, and reports from the middle of this year have linked him with a possible move to Grêmio should fresh terms not be agreed.
