About the player
James Debayo's only senior appearance for Leeds United lasted about a minute. On 24 November 2024 he came off the bench in the 89th minute of a Championship match against Swansea City.
He arrived at Leeds in July 2021 on a two-year scholarship, having come through the academy at Watford. He moved up through the Under-21s, and in April 2025 he started the final of the inaugural National League Cup against Sutton United. Leeds' Under-21s won it. Leeds offered him a contract extension in May 2025, but he left when his contract expired that summer.
Debayo also has an England youth record: two caps for the Under-17s in 2022 and six for the Under-18s in 2023.
He signed for Hull City on a free transfer in January 2026. He then went to Swindon Town on a season-long loan, which runs to 30 June 2027. Through September 2026 he had made six appearances in all competitions and started three of them. He has not yet scored or set up a goal.
His first weeks in League Two have brought two disciplinary marks. He was booked against Newport County, and he was sent off against Cardiff City in the EFL Cup.
