Jan Fortelný

Jan Fortelný came through the Sparta Praha academy after starting out at Motorlet Praha. Sparta sent him out on loan four times before he ever established himself in Prague — to Vlašim, to Jihlava, twice to Teplice, and finally to Sigma Olomouc. He made his senior debut for Sparta in 2020, but his appearances there stayed limited: only four league games before the January 2023 move to Olomouc.

That timing left him with an unusual line on his record. Sparta went on to win the Czech First League that season, and Fortelný, still registered with the squad for the first half of the campaign, is credited as a champion despite playing no part in the run-in.

Sparta let him go on a free transfer to Jablonec in July 2024. He stayed there only a season before a swap deal took him back to Teplice, the club where he had twice spent loan spells, with Richard Sedláček moving the other way to Jablonec on the same free-transfer basis.

At youth level, Fortelný was a regular in Czech international set-ups, moving up through the age groups from the under-16s to the under-20s and scoring for the under-19 side. He has not featured for the senior national team.
