Jan Kovařík

Jan Kovařík built his career on the left side of midfield after coming through Slavia Prague's academy, but it was at Viktoria Plzeň, where he arrived in January 2013, that he became a fixture of one of Czech football's most successful sides. He won four Czech First League titles with the club, and reached the Europa League round of 16 in 2013-14 before Plzeň settled for the round of 32 in three further campaigns. Two Czech Cup finals ended in defeat, leaving that trophy as the one gap in an otherwise decorated spell in western Bohemia.

His route there had run through Jablonec, where he moved in June 2009 as part of a swap deal involving Tomáš Jablonský and Adam Hloušek, following a loan at Dynamo České Budějovice. Before that, Kovařík had progressed through several youth sides in and around his native Most before joining Slavia's academy as a teenager.

In July 2021, after eight years at Plzeň, Kovařík signed for Bohemians 1905 as a free agent, later extending his contract until 2027. He has since become one of the club's most reliable creative outlets from midfield, and his assist tally there now ranks third in Bohemians' all-time list.

At international level, Kovařík earned a single senior cap for the Czech Republic, debuting in a Euro 2016 qualifier against Iceland in June 2015. He had been a more regular presence at under-21 level, where he scored twice in his appearances for that side.
