About the player
Jay Lynch's route to Fleetwood Town's goal took him through the lower reaches of English football after his release from Bolton Wanderers, where he had spent his academy years following his youth days at Manchester United. A brief, unhappy spell at Accrington Stanley followed in 2014 — two appearances before a departure by mutual consent that he later spoke about critically.
It was at Salford City, whom he joined on a free transfer, that Lynch rebuilt his career, making 110 league appearances and keeping 53 clean sheets. A move to AFC Fylde in 2017: he was named in the National League North Team of the Year, then started in Fylde's FA Trophy final win over Leyton Orient in 2018–19, a season that ended with him being named National League Goalkeeper of the Year.
In May 2025, with his contract due to expire, Fleetwood moved to keep him, extending his deal by two years to run to 2027.
