About the player
Jonathan Norbye played one Bundesliga match for RB Leipzig in the 2023–24 season. He signed his first professional contract with Leipzig in 2024, running to the summer of 2028.
Norbye came through Alta IF's youth ranks from 2018 and moved into the senior side in the Norwegian Second Division in 2022. He played 10 matches there and scored once before Leipzig signed him in 2023.
In June 2025 he went to Arminia Bielefeld II in the Oberliga Westfalen, where he played eight matches and scored once. That loan was ended in December 2025.
On 31 March 2026 he joined Fredrikstad on loan from Leipzig until the end of the 2026 season, with an option to buy. He played nine matches in the Eliteserien for the club.
The loan ended in August 2026 when Norbye moved to FK Haugesund on a permanent basis. Haugesund announced the deal on 20 August, and he signed a three-year contract running to mid-2029. Neither club disclosed a fee. He has played three matches for Haugesund in the OBOS-ligaen and scored two goals.
Norbye was part of Norway's squad at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He has not yet played for the senior national team.
