Joshua Honohan

Josh Honohan spent the 2025 season winning two trophies with Shamrock Rovers. The League of Ireland Premier Division and the FAI Cup both went to Rovers that year, and Honohan was named in the PFAI Premier Division Team of the Year for the second season running. He had also been in the team of the year in 2024, the season in which he collected the President of Ireland's Cup.

He came from Carrigaline in County Cork and came through the youth ranks of Carrigaline United and Cork City. His first professional contract with Cork City came in August 2019, and he made his senior debut the same year. Over four seasons he played 72 times for the club and scored four goals. In 2022 Cork City won the League of Ireland First Division.

Shamrock Rovers signed him on 16 November 2023 for a reported fee of €20,000. Within two years he was one of the best-regarded defenders in the Premier Division, and in May 2025 he received his first senior call-up from the Republic of Ireland. He has not yet won a senior cap. An under-21 call-up in October 2021 also did not bring a debut.

In December 2025 he agreed a move to Lincoln City for a fee of about €500,000, which became official on 1 January 2026. A load-related injury from the end of his time at Rovers kept him out of competitive action for the rest of the 2025–26 season. Lincoln won EFL League One in that campaign without him. His debut came on 25 August 2026 in the EFL Cup.
