Júlio Carolino Tavares

Júlio Tavares began his senior career at Bourg-Péronnas before joining Dijon on a free transfer, where he built the standout record of his career: 80 goals in all competitions, 69 of them in the league, a tally that made him the club's all-time leading scorer after he passed Sebastián Ribas's mark in October 2017.

A move to Saudi Arabia followed in September 2020, when Al-Faisaly paid an estimated €1 million for him, a fee reported at the time by French outlets Vosges Matin and Onze Mondial. He won the King's Cup with Al-Faisaly in the 2020–21 season and finished as the competition's top scorer. He later moved on a free transfer to Al-Raed in 2022, then joined Al-Diriyah in July 2024, where he scored eight goals in 21 league appearances as the club won the Saudi Second Division League Group B and secured promotion in 2024–25.

For Cape Verde, Tavares has earned 46 caps and scored eight goals, and he has featured at four editions of the Africa Cup of Nations: 2013, 2015, 2021 and 2023. In 2013 he was part of the side that reached the quarter-finals, and in 2021 he scored the winning goal against Ethiopia in the group stage.
