Lucas Acosta Moreno

Lucas Acosta Moreno came up through the Montevideo City Torque academy and made his first-team debut on 21 October 2022, in a Primera División match against River Plate. The following year the club sent him out on loan to Tacuarembó, where he featured three times in the Segunda División and three more in the Copa Uruguay. He returned to Montevideo City Torque in early 2024 and settled into a heavier workload, playing 13 matches in the Segunda División and a further 11 in the Primera División before the club released him.

Acosta joined Liverpool Montevideo on a free transfer on 10 July 2024. Since arriving, he has featured in both the Primera División and the Copa Libertadores. He was not part of a title-winning side that year: Liverpool were eliminated at the group stage of the 2024 Torneo Intermedio, a tournament won by Nacional, who beat Peñarol in the final. He has yet to add a Primera División championship or a Copa Libertadores to his record, and has not been capped by the Uruguay national team at senior level.

Born in José Pedro Varela, Acosta's path through Uruguayan football has been built on incremental steps rather than a single breakthrough: a loan spell to gain minutes, a return to sharpen his place in the side, and then a move to a new club.
