About the player
Lucas Hjelleset Gausdal, who also appears as Lukas Gausdal, came to Start from the town where he grew up. He played his youth football at Flekkefjord FK, in the G16 and G19 teams, and moved to Kristiansand on a free transfer on 22 August 2023.
Start gave him his first professional contract in March 2025. It runs until the end of 2027. The deal came while he was still 17, and he has since been picked for Norway at youth level.
The international side of his career is the most developed part. By September 2025 he had won five caps for the Norway U18 side and scored one goal. In October 2025 he was in the squad for the qualifying rounds of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He started against Armenia and came on as a substitute against Kosovo.
The next step was a move away from Start for match experience. On 27 August 2026 Sogndal announced they had taken him on loan for the rest of the season, until 31 December. The club needed cover for the injured midfielder Martin Høyland.
He is right-footed. He has not yet won a senior title or an individual award.
