About the player
Marcelo Alves never spent long in one place before Sochi. After coming through the youth ranks at Madureira and making his senior debut there in 2017, he was loaned out in five consecutive spells, moving between Barra da Tijuca, Rio Branco-ES, Vasco da Gama and Vitória before a stint at Tondela in Portugal, where he made over 40 appearances and scored four goals.
He joined PFC Sochi on loan with an option to buy. Since arriving in Russia, Marcelo Alves has established himself as a regular starter and has been used consistently on the road, featuring in 24 consecutive away matches for Sochi. He was also named Best Player of the Match in fixtures against Pari NN and, on another occasion, against Krylia Sovetov.
He has not yet been capped by the Brazilian national team and has not won a major title at club level.
