Nicolas Popescu

Nicolas Popescu is the son of Gheorghe "Gică" Popescu, the former Romania international. He was born in Istanbul while his father was playing for Galatasaray. He holds Romanian nationality.

His own football education came at the academy of Gheorghe Hagi, where he spent six years, from 2015 to 2021. The route from there to the first team was short. He joined the senior squad of Farul Constanța in 2021 and made his debut that July. Farul won the Liga I title in 2022–23, and he was in the squad that season.

Between those two points he had his first spell away. From August 2022 to January 2023 he was on loan at FC Voluntari, where he made four appearances, three of them in the league. He then returned to Farul.

The 2024–25 season brought 17 league appearances for Farul, with three assists and no goals. For 2025–26 he was loaned again, this time to CSA Steaua București, who were playing in Liga II. The move was announced in September 2025, and he made five appearances for the club without a goal or an assist. He remains a Farul player.

His record with Romania's youth teams runs across four age groups: six caps at under-15 level in 2018, three at under-16 in 2018–19, twelve at under-19 in 2021 and three at under-20 in 2022. The under-19 year was the busiest, and it came in the same season he made his senior debut for Farul.
